Is any development proposed on the area to be restored?
No. The proposal being prepared relates to the restoration of the former quarry. There are no current proposals to build within the quarry, other than development that has already been approved and is currently being built out, to the north-east of the quarried area. A planning application for restoration will be submitted and assessed on its own merits.
What material will be brought to the site?
Only suitable, non-hazardous material that meets strict acceptance and verification requirements would be used. Detailed controls would be in place to protect the environment.
How will the environment be protected?
Specialist assessments are being undertaken covering groundwater, ecology, landscape, heritage, transport and construction management. Appropriate mitigation and monitoring measures will be included within the planning application.
Will local people be able to comment?
Yes. Feedback received through this consultation will help inform the final planning application before it is submitted to North Somerset Council.
