The proposal is to restore the existing quarry void by importing suitable, non-hazardous material and carefully placing it within the quarry.
The restoration would:
- Fill the existing quarry void to create a stable landform.
- Remain contained within the existing quarry area.
- Allow the site to be integrated into the surrounding landscape.
- Provide opportunities for biodiversity enhancement and habitat creation.
Approximately 430,000m³ of verified suitable-for-use, non-hazardous material would be imported and placed in controlled, engineered layers within the existing quarry void. This would amount to
The restored landform would rise to the second tier of the quarry walls, reaching approximately 93 metres Above Ordnance Datum at the southern face and reducing to approximately 73 metres Above Ordnance Datum towards the northern approach road. Near-level plateaus would be connected by a gentle gradient of approximately 1:23, allowing the final profile to tie into the quarry walls, access road and surrounding ground levels.
